Yankees Will Never Learn

Yanks will never learn, from Pavano, Randy Johnson, and Kevin Brown. Last year the New York Yankees decided that they will not pursue Johan Santana and that they will utilize the farm system. So much for that, after not making the playoffs for the first time in 13 years you would think that they would go back to how they became a dynasty in the 90's. With Bobby Abreau and Jason Giambi's large contracts coming off the books they decided to add another huge contract worth over $160 million. I understand the Yankees dilemma, they play in a city where you are expected to win, a city that has been spoiled and expects nothing less than a championship forget just making the playoffs. There is no time to develop the younger players and utilize the farm system because there is too much pressure in NYC to produce rings NOW!!!!. Although CC Sabathia is a lot more talented at this point of his career than the busts I mentioned earlier, the contract is ridiculous and in line with what the Yankees have been doing these past several years.

  1. Good first post. I like that it was Yankees related. :-) I personally like the move, although I think they bid way too high. The Yankees won in the 90s with great pitching. This is a good move towards rebuilding that solid rotation. They just gotta bring Torre back! haha!

  2. The difference these days is that the Yankees used to trade their minor league studs for these types of pitchers. Nowadays, the Yankees are such a well run "business" that they are more capable of lending GM, Ford and Chrysler money than the U.S. Government.
