During this college basketball season the top teams have truly been inconsistent. There was a period when a team cannot stay ranked number one for more than a week. There was four different number ones in four different weeks. The only consistent team seems to be UConn right now (how long though with the lose of their second leading scorer, Jerome Dyson). Oklahoma and North Carolina both look strong and one of them may end up at ranked number one and the top seed at the end of the season. Then there is the second class of teams (Duke, Pittsburgh, Louisville, and Wake Forest) that should be winning more consistently but have not found an identity. The tournament selection committee is going to have their hands this season. The Big East is by far the toughest conference in the nation and the top teams have affected each others national ranking. Pittsburgh's only two loses have come to Big East teams and are still ranked fourth in the nation. Five out of Syracuses' loses have come to Big East teams, they would easily be ranked higher than lets say Memphis (8 AP), who they actually beat. The ACC has five teams in the top 25 but the only real threat is North Carolina. Duke lives and dies by the three and are not physical enough to hang in there with some teams. Wake Forest well after being number one have lost four out of their last six. College basketball is truly about runs and hot streaks. This year's March Madness is truly going to be an exciting one to watch.
Final Four Prediction (UConn, North Carolina, Louisville, Pittsburgh)
