Kobe Bryant's MSG Performance

Last night Kobe Bryant took his comparison to Michael Jordan a step further by torching the Knicks, like Jordan use to at "The Garden," with 61 points. With the injury to Andrew Bynum, Kobe figured he needed to take more shoots and create more offense for the team. He was making shoots from everywhere (mostly the free throw line), if he wanted to he could have easily taken more shoots and probably would've dropped 70-80 points on the Knicks. Jackson said, "Nights that Kobe's on fire, he burns hot." Just like the bright lights of New York City that tend to bring the best out of most opponents. MSG has always been a stomping ground for the greatest basketball player of all time, Jordan which seemed to elevate his game every time he showed up to "The Garden." Kobe is loved and hated by fans and teams like Michael Jordan was. The chants of "MVP" could be heard through out the arena, the excitement and cheers that filled the arena were somewhat reminiscent of Jordan. He brings crowds to their feet in every arena. This season only one player has excited the crowd even more and that is LeBron James. Just when LeBron seems to be surpassing Kobe as the best player in the game today, Kobe steals the headlines and reinforces thoughts of his dominance in the game today.

-LeBron James will be playing in the garden tomorrow, February 4th, 2009. Can we expect a better performance?

  2. Sorry for the late post here...I haven't read your blog in awhile. But to follow up on this, and LeBron's performance at The Garden, you can argue he had a better game than Kobe did. He scored 50+ along with a triple double. I love Kobe, but I think LeBron is still the King.
